Shell’s Wonderful World of Golf was a weekly television series that aired from 1962 through 1970 and was the first golf matches ever filmed for a television series. This video is a golf match between Gene Littler and Byron Nelson, played at Pine Valley in the United States and was originally aired on February 4, 1962. Pine Valley is heralded as the toughest golf course in the world. Byron Nelson had 18 victories in a single year in 1945. Incredibly, 11 were in a row! In his short career he had 52 Tour victories, including two Masters and one U.S. Open. Gene Littler had the golf swing that everybody desired in the sixties. He was the reigning U.S. Open Champion at the time this match was played. Littler went on to win 29 Tour victories and played on 7 Ryder Cup Teams. 60 Minutes.
